I couldn’t agree more. At times, my camera feels like an extension of my own self—as natural as an arm or a leg—and over the past 15 years, I’ve used it to capture moments on and off the water.

If someone had approached me when I had just started and said I could build a life simply by documenting fishing culture via the gadget around my neck, I would have called them crazy. But that’s what happened and I’m grateful for where I am, what I do, and where I’ve traveled.

Many years ago, my good friend Kirk Deeter said, “It isn’t about the fish. Rather, it’s the miles you travel and the people you meet in order to find them that’s important.” With every click of the shutter, I continue to realize how right he was. I’ve learned more from the moments leading up to the photographs than I have the photographs themselves, and it’s why I continue the pursuit…
