Spring Mayflies

Spring Mayflies

I went out to my studio to work on a painting of fall this morning (May 10), and a Mayfly was perched on it, right in some rapids and in front of an ouzel.  I'm not sure how and when it got in there, since I've had the studio shut up for a couple of days.  Maybe it hatched out of the painting.  My wife pointed out that the whole thing was wrong since the Mayfly was upside down.  I told her I'd probably be upside down too if I'd hatched out of a painting.  Talk about art imitating life imitating art imitating live imitating....

SPRING MAYFLIES

I suppose the next thing I hear from you will be that a 15 lb Steelhead is rising from your painting, right in some rapids and in front of an ouzel. What's an ouzel?

Ouzel

An ouzel is a Scandinavian transvestite.

Steelhead? Well, as a matter of fact....
