The downstream portion of San Francisquito Creek was named one of 2014’s Most Endangered Rivers by the river conservation group American Rivers. It’s one of the few remaining urban creeks feeding San Francisco Bay that’s not paved over, thus an important artery for the ESA listed wild southern steelhead population that spawns in the creek. But Stanfords Searsville dam blocks 20 miles of potential upstream spawning habitat. Searsville water is diverted and used to water a golf course.
