Shoshone River Sediment Spill

With all of the recent talk about dam removal in the northwest and elsewhere, much is centered on the barriers they create to anadromous fish, but they pose other problems as well, as the residents downstream of Cody, WY are having to deal with.

Sometime during the past week a massive amount of suffocating silt was released into the Shoshone River downstream of the Willwood Diversion Dam during planned repairs, potentially suffocating the entire population of fish in the river below the diversion.
