Raised in Montana water, and later living on land in Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah before returning to his home state to work as a Wilderness Ranger outside of Bozeman. He now lives in the Black Hills of Western South Dakota where he currently operates a fire lookout tower for the U.S. Forest Service, when he is not teaching at a local university, fishing, or writing about himself in third person.
