This vintage film from the IGFA Museum's library was reproduced by Costa Del Mar in partnership with the IGFA. The idea was to remind people how great fishing stories were in yesteryear, before equipment and technique formats became so prevalent in outdoor shows.

As your email has been bouncing for the last several days, and you apparently have neither cell phone, nor other mobile communications device. I am now resorting to the modern smoke signal: the blog. Indeed, it’s come to this.

 As per your Team Funny Feelings LLC’s performance in this weekend’s, Western Outdoor News (WON)/Mercury Northern Region Delta Division Open BASS Tournament in Oakley, CA -- congratulations; although 29^th place may not be the Miracle on the Swamp you’d hoped for, that means there were 10 teams that got beat by a couple dudes in a John boat tossing poppers.

I used to stop at the Bunkhouse Bar for years when I'd fish at Canyon Ferry.  My friend, Vern Troxel, who I used to fish with over there, was a retired logger from Townsend, and he'd always know everyone in the bar.

Why I'm getting back to my roots...

On Mother’s Day, I caught my first five small trout on a dry to prepare Truite au bleu for my wife. The last time I attempted the dish I worked for Gordon McCrae on the M+ Ranch in Island Park, Idaho. The McCrae Ranch butted up against the more famous Trude Ranch in Shotgun Valley where Old Man Trude purportedly tied his famous fly. Somewhere I had heard—probably from my boss, Gordon, who wintered in Las Vegas— that Truite au Bleu should always be prepared with live fish

Several times on the trip when we pulled over for gas and peeing, guys with small chins and dental incongruities would come over and start talking to us, most likely because they were enamored with our Trash Fish caps.  One even yodeled, "Yew got any more of them?" and was truly crestfallen when we didn't.
