Desert Bass

RA Beattie is filmmaker and former fishing guide from the Roaring Fork valley.

Desert Bass:

The bass piece is probably my favorite. Viewers will notice the water levels were very low, about 100 feet below average, allowing for shots of trees that are oftentimes submerged. The short also was a challenge, because I filmed the entire thing solo–something I was eager to attempt. I also like the piece due to the fact that bass fishing usually is associated with tons of tricked out gear: neon boats, twenty rods, pork frogs, lots of bells and whistles… but I liked the idea of doing this simple and on foot–the idea that anyone with a fly rod and hiking boots could put an experience like this together.
