Stripers, California Delta
Bass report from Brent Dawson of Warpath:
The California Delta is starting to finally show a few decent stripers in the system. In the past week the stripers are from three-to-seven pounds with an occasional nine-to-ten pounder in the Stockton and Discovery Bay system feeding on larger six-to-seven inch Warpath “Tamahawk” patterns. Since the water is a good mid 50s the fish are most willing to take a faster retrieve with good pauses between strips. Don’t be afraid to launch you bugs in deeper water with fast currents as many eight-plus-pounders love the quick currents on island points and will hit you when you least expect it. When the water cools the fish will slow down and most likely move up towards Sacramento and the dead end sloughs. The problem here is that you have to pull shorter, slow motion strips with grabs that you can barely feel.
