Bahamacon 2014: First Cast, First Tarpon, A New Addiction

For anyone who didn’t book in time for FFJ’s BahamaCon trip, no worries. Not missing much. Just tailing bones, cruising permit, charging ‘cuda and this guy; 50lb tarpon for longtime subscriber Laning Andrews. First time flyfishing warm waters, first cast at a ‘poon (first freaking time seeing one), first step in a new addiction.

Much, much credit to Andros South and particularly to guide Norman, who masterfully put Lanny on this bad boy as well as getting us into bones and more bones — and a legit shot at permit. Thanks as well to Sage‘s Tag Kleiner for providing rod, reel and RIO line for this moment. And Copi Vojta for the bad ass knots that held.

You know, it is better in the Bahamas.
