BahamaCon14 Wrap: Kaliks, Bones and Toothy Friends

BahamaCon 14 comes to a slow and lurching end, island style. Though we tried to stowaway in various containers and overturned hulls, in the end the FFJ band-on-the-run was returned Stateside for better or for worse. With six solid days of fat bones ripping line to Cuba, several big-ass ‘cuda brought to hand (and some to grill), and Laning Andrews’s stunning lifetime catch of a50lb tarpon, the event proved to be a complete and total success. Finishing off with some solid bro-down time with FFJ friend and all-star angler Conway Bowman was a treat, and provided a sausage-making view of what goes into producing a fishing show for TV. With stellar guiding from Torrie, Freddie, Norman, Charlie and others on the Andros South A-Team, every member of our crew hooked up solid bones and other species. The palapa was rocking with empty Kaliks piling up by the hour, as cigar smoke wafted down the beach each evening. Shout outs to Sage, Redington and RIO‘s Tag Kleiner for the more than ample stoker gifts and big shout out to Andros South crew including Andrew, Mike, Kyle, Jordan and staff. An amazing time and already planning our return for next year in early March. Watch for details and an invite here.
