Writers on the Fly Bellingham Recap

Writers on the Fly has a beautifully simply goal, to showcase the best writing being done in fly fishing today and help bring exposure to artists whose passion for fly fishing comes through in their art. All is done while working with and raising money for non-profit organizations that share a mission tied to fly fishing. Jason Rolfe brought this inspiring event to Bellingham and it had readings, art, a great cause, and food from co-sponsor Fourth Corner Flyfishers. And beer.

The event was held in the brewhouse of Bellingham brewery Boundary Bay. Thousands of gallons of beer towered behind Rolfe while he introduced the audience to the WotF program and the evenings readers. It was an evening of writers reading new and old pieces, of the crowd hearing Flyfish Journal editor-in-chief, publisher, and photo editor answer questions about the journal and their creative process, and listening to a local non-profit organization share their cause. The readers for the evening were Steve Duda, Nathaniel Riverhorse Nakadate, Emma Yardley as well as host Jason Rolfe. Photography from Copi Vojta was on display. Proceeds from the Bellingham event helped to benefit the Liam Wood Flyfishers and River Guardians program.

Look for furture WotF events to be scheduled this fall, throughout the Northwest and beyond.
