Ghost Stories

Bahamian Bonefishing

While we’re getting packed for our annual BahamaCon migration, check out the trailer for the upcoming film from World Angling, taking a closer look at the Bahamian guides that are the rock stars of their local communities. It’s the best job on the island.

From World Angling: “Fly Fishing for Bonefish in the Bahamas is a way of life. The sport and the guides that have made it a big business for the Bahamas tourism are revered members of their community. Yet despite their prominence, the guides and the future of guiding in the Bahamas face an uncertain future. With new regulations on the horizon and few young men willing to take up the profession, the industry is changing. Will Benson set out to document these changes with film makers Andrew O’neil and Dan Decibel. Ghost Stories follows a new Bonefish Tarpon Trust research project designed to document the history and traditions of bonefishing in the Bahamas and the phenomenon know as “Shifting baseline perspective.””
