No Back 40 Mine

Protect Wisconsin's Waters from Sulfide Miniing

From the River Alliance of Wisconsin comes an important campaign to put the hold on a mining threat endangering the Menominee River and the surrounding watersheds, wildlife and communities. For more information and to join the no Back 40 Mine campaign and to learn what you can do to help, please visit https://www.wisconsinrivers.org/noback40mine.

From the River Alliance of Wisconsin: “The Back Forty mine is a proposed sulfide mine 150ft from the banks of the Menominee River. Cyanide is proposed to be used; and sulfuric acid will be a by-product of mining. The proposed mine would destroy sacred Menominee tribal sites. In this video, meet Tim Landwehr of Tight Lines Fly Fishing Co. whose business depends on the health of the Menominee River.
