Smallmouth Bass :: The Crash

Smallie Phenomena

Smallmouth Bass crash baitfish in reckless abandon as Kyle Zempel, shutterbug, fly fishing guide, owner of Black Earth Angling Co. and regular TFFJ contributor makes an appearance in front of the lens in this beautifully shot video from Justin Bernklau of Woodsmoke, discussing his love of a natural phenomena that makes for some excellent fly fishing opportunities for smallmouth bass and their crashing antics.

From Woodsmoke: “On the Lower Wisconsin River, smallmouth bass work in packs to corral and eat bait fish. This natural phenomenon was discovered by local guide Kyle Zempel and some of his fishing buddies. He now targets the feeding frenzy with clients for some of the most exciting topwater fishing one can experience.”
