Fly Fishing the Au Sable River

To us westerners, Michigan’s Au Sable River brings thoughts of Trout Unlimited’s inception way back when. It brings thoughts of a favorite dry fly, Fran Betters Ausable Wulff, a staple for lighter colored attractor dry flies. With the rivers great hatches and it’s connection to rich flyfishing history, check out this great short film from Pure Michigan.

From Pure Michigan: “Au Sable River, Michigan: The excitement of fly fishing is not in the casting, it’s in the challenge to make a connection. When you connect with that particular fish you’ve been trying to catch, the mood changes from quiet and calm to a spectacular dance that’s electric to experience. Michigan’s Au Sable River is a dry fly fishing destination known for it’s serene waters and abundance of trout that keeps fishermen coming back.”
