Night Spear

Fishing the Wild in Australia's Northern Territory

This episode of “Fishing the Wild” is both an Australian history lesson and an intimate look at Aboriginal fishing culture. And while there aren’t any fly rods in this video, there’s a heck of a lot of fishing. Morgs and Simmo, friends and hosts of the show, are shown the sixty-thousand year old process of traditional Aboriginal spear fishing. With some practice in tidal creeks to start, and an evening of stalking the mangroves to finish, this video is unique and exhilarating picture of the ancient history of a sport we love–and the people who loved it first.
