Deschutes 30/30

30 seconds now for 30 Healthy Years

There are 18 days left to make your voice heard in respect to the Deschutes river’s future. Learn more about water management issues, fish kills and other issues facing the Deschutes at the link below, and how your comments on the Deschutes River Basin Habitat Conservation Plan will help.

From 30 30 for the Deschutes: “The Deschutes River Basin Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) is currently being reviewed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and without input from community members like you, this HCP won’t adequately increase streamflows to levels that will restore and protect the river’s natural beauty and the health of its fish and wildlife.

If enough public pressure is created during the commenting period, you could help create a more balanced HCP that will take fish, wildlife, recreation, and the entire community into consideration equally with irrigation and agriculture.

An unbalanced management plan risks continued river degradation and loss of fish, wildlife, water quality, and recreation. As a result, we lose the lifeblood of our community, culture, and economy.”
