Collaborative Efforts for Snake River Dam Removal

Directed by Shane Anderson, the Pacific Rivers short film Lostine details the collaborative work of the Nez Perce Tribe and Eastern Oregon ranchers to rebuild salmon stocks within the Snake River basin, and an important call for the removal of the four lower Snake River dams. It ends with this quote: “The future for salmon in the Snake River Basin depends on collaborative efforts and the removal of the four federal dams on the lower Snake River.”

From Pacific Rivers: “Born in Oregon’s largest wilderness of the Wallowa Mountains, the Lostine River is a critically important stream for salmon and communities that depend on it for cultural and economic reasons.

Join us on a short journey to learn about a unique partnership between the Nez Perce Tribe and a local farmer that aims to restore spring Chinook salmon, which once spawned by the thousands in this river. The success of this inspirational partnership hinges on the fate of four federal dams in the lower Snake River.
