Listening to Bugs

Listening to Bugs details fieldwork taking place in the San Juan National Forest after the 416 fire, outside of Durango, Colorado. Scott Roberts, an Aquatic Ecologist and Water Programs Director for the Mountain Studies Institute, is studying the impacts to bug communities within burn area watersheds to learn more about wildfire impacts on these sensitive underwater environs.

From Trout Unlimited: “Since the beginning of time fire has played a big part in shaping the western landscape. And that is even more true today with larger, more intense fires with more frequency. We dove into two researchers’ stories who determine the impacts of fires to forests and ultimately our beloved rivers––one in the summer issue of TROUT and one in the short film above.”
