Hook Line and Sinker by Nick Shoulders and the Okay Crawdad

Bellingham, WA, lying in between the major cities of Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC, allows for a plethora of musical acts to perform at one of the smaller sized venues in town. This is excellent. Over the past couple of months, we’ve been fortunate to see a number of country and western artists rock the house, like Emily Nenni, Vincent Neil Emerson and just last week Nick Shoulders brought his waltzy, whistling, sometimes dark and spooky, highly entertaining act to town.

And being from Arkansas, and proudly stating that he was raised by the woods and water, you bet yer darn butt there was a fishin’ song, full of cheesy lines playing off a handful of fishing related tropes.

It’s great stuff and part of a resurgence of actual good country, no Top 40 pop country involved, these folks rock, for real. Turn it on, turn it up and catch a live show if you see them coming through your town.
