Sometimes, sitting in a quiet mountain cabin, strange thoughts creep in. Looking out this window, and at this ridiculously beautiful valley filled with wildflowers, tucked beneath snowcapped peaks—I couldn’t help but think of my childhood, growing up in the wheat belt of Australia—flat, dry, and stinking hot, where the grass turned to dust most summers.
